OUE OWN INVESTIGATIONS. From tho Daily Northern Telegraph. Recent editorial comment by some of the most influential papers in Great Britain, re. speoting the value of an article which is extensively advertised, baa led us to make certain investigations on our own behalf, in order that wo might lay before our readers facts which we had personally verified. Advertisements are one thing, but voluntary editorial endorsement of tho value of an article is quite another thing. This latter occurs so very rarely that it becomes all the more important. .... , From the report below it will be observed that wo have confined our investigations wholly to local people. The reports are from well-known citizens, which must carry couviotion to the minds of every thinking man and woman. , Messrs Jackson and Co., of 9, Regents Buildings, top of Penny street, being among uur leading merchants, their opinion was first coaght by as. In answer to our enquiry Mr Jackson states that the article in quea. tion was one of the most staple. Immense quantities were sold by him every month, and the actual merit which it possessed was undoubtedly the cause of its being one of the leading articles of trade in Blackburn. . . . Among these oases which Mr Jaokaon related was that of a well-known society ady (whose name we are not at liberty to publish), who had been confined to her room for more than three weeks by muscular rheumatism in tho baok, during which time she was under the treatment of one of our loading medical men ; but continued from the first to grow worse. She was very much prejudiced against advertised remedies, and although repeatedly urged to try St. Jacob’s Oil, she persistently refused. Her sister, unbeknown to her, procured a bottle of the oil from Messrs Jackson. The first application gave the lady relief, and before the contents of one hotlla was used she was entirely free from pain. She felt so grateful that she personally visited the store of Messrs Jackson, and told them the facts as above narrated, and says that here, after she shall advise all her friends who have rheumatism to dismiss their doctors and use St. Jacob’s oil. .
