Mr Rees bascalled a meeting of the Labour members for this morning at 11 o’clock, to consider the motion, of which he has given notice, That, having regard to the increasing tension between the interests of capital and labour throughout the world, the Government be requested to open correspondence with the different Governments of all English speaking communities, with a view to the appointment of a Conference to consider the relations between capita), labour, and tho State; suoh Conference to meet at the forthcoming Chicago Exhibition. The Financial Statement will be delivered on Friday next. The Government have as yet come to no decision whatever as regards the Chairmanship of Committees, and nothing is likely to be done in the matter for a day or two. A deputation will wait on the Minister for Public Works this morning at 10.30, with reference to Nelson borough and county matters.

The Promoters’ and Directors’ Liability Bill la now ready for circulation. The measure deals with all companies formed or registered or intended to be formed or registered under the provisions of the Companies Act, 1882, or the Mining Companies Act, 188 G. It provides that any director or promoter making false statements in a prospectus shall be liable to pay damages to any Investor in the company’s stock to tho amount of the loss sustained by suoh investor. In tho event of a promoter or director being misled by an expert, he is not responsible, but the expert is, and may bo sued for damages accordingly. Any director or promoter who places the name of any person on the directorate without express authority is to bo held guilty of an offence and to bo punishable by fine or imprisonment. Experts are not to bo held responsible unless they knowingly mislead.

The Minister of Lauds received a deputation of Southland M.H.R.’a with reference to tho administration of the Rabbit Act. No press reporters were admitted.
