(By TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Palmerston North, June 11. The Longburu Freezing Company resume operations on Monday next. The Company have appointed Mr H. Stevens to represent them in this district. The Colonial Bank purpose opening a branch here on July 1. The Bank have purchased a section in Main street, west, with a building at present utilised as a boarding house for £IOOO. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wanganui, Juno 10. The Wanganui Meat Freezing Company’s works were formally opened this afternoon by Mr A. J. Parsons, J.P., and the Directors of the Freezing Company. A largo number of influential graziers were present at the ceremony. The machinery was set going, and the engine christened ” The Dnigan.” The works are now in full awing. A meeting was held to-night to discuss the formation of an Amateur Athletic Club for Wanganui, which it was decided to establish. Seventy members have already been enrolled, and the Clnb promises to be a decided success. An excellent running track near town baa been secured for the meetings. Invercargill, Juno 10. Already 73,C00 sacks of grain have been carried on the Sonthland railways this season to Invercargill and the Bluff. Auckland, June 10. F. L. Beart has been committed for trial at Dargavillo on the charge of embezzling county funds amounting to £l2O.
