LAND BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Land Board wbs he'd yesterday. Present—Mr J. W. A. Marchant (Commissioner), and Messrs W, W. MoCardle, W. A. Fitzherbert, and A. W. Hogg, M.H.K.

The Hoard decided not to endorse the transfer at present of a section, H. Savage to A. Mudgway. Applications to transfer were granted as follows : —Section 2, Block 1., Macgone, from W. H. Moody to J. Barlow ; Section 4, Block X., Mangahao, G. W. Hall to A. Sandall ; Section 5, Block Vllf., Waipakura, F. H. Haselden to G. W. Collins ; Section CS, Block XIV.,. Mangahao, S. Heniogway to J. IC. and W. A. Tripe ; Section 2, Block X,, Mangaono, C. Griffin to Mrs Von Hedeu ; Section 02, Block 111., Mangahao, M. Tangney to M. Herlig, T. W. Hughes was granted permission to take in a partner in Section 23, Block XIV., Makuri. A similar application from W, T. Beard of Section 70, Block VI., Apiti, was also granted. Applications for titles were dealt with as under:—A. Birnie, Sections 123, 124, Block XII., Mangahao, granted ; G. Baker, Section 28, Block XV., Ocgo, granted ; J. Baker, Sections, C 6, 79, 79a, Huntervillo, granted ; R. S. Herbert, Section 70, Block V., Manga* one, granted ; W. Miers, Section 30, Block IX,, Pohangina, granted; J. Sowry, Section 14, Block Vil, Maugahao, refused until improvements aro effected; F. H. Allen, section 11, Block V,, Waipakuia, refused, and applicant ordered to show why conditions were not complied with ; J. V, Smith, Sections 7 and 12, Block 111., Wairoa, title to Section 12 granted, and refused for Section 7, as improvements are not sufficient ; J. H. Kelling, Section 12, Block IX., Wairoa, granted, provided payments of the capitalised value are made. The Board promised to consider a further application from the selector regarding the payment of interest. J. Lee, 227-225, Hunterville, granted. C. Sidey ; s application to be allowed to effect all the improvements required on Sections 2 and 3, Block 11., Puketoi, on one section was refused.

T. Warner submitted a contract let by him for the felling of 20 acres on Section 72, Block XIV., Mangahao, and the ranger was instructed to see that the work was carried out.

The executors of the late W. Atkins applied for permission to lease Section 80, Block XIV, Apiti, for a term of years. It was decided to refuse the application. With regard to an application from T. Ray to surrender part of Section O, Block VIL, Waiunioru, it was resolved to inform him that if ho did not comply with the conditions of the Act his interest will be forfeited.

Messrs T. and W, Stubbs applied for an extension of four years in which to pay interest on the capitalised value of section 1539, Block V,, Ktiwebga. The request was granted. Miss M. B. Pharazyn’a application to alter the boundaries of Sections 4 and 5, Blocks IX. and XII. y Waipawa and Hanrangi, was approved. The interests of the selector of Section 5, Block XII., Wairoa, was cancelled, and the ranger was instructed to call upon him and report. The Commissioner submitted a report from the surveyor on the reserve adjoining section 65. Block VI., Pohangina, and it was resolved to have the land surveyed and reported upon, so that the Board could deal with It to the best advantage. T. Robinson’s application for compensation for improvements effected by him on other lands was refused. The interest of the selector of Section 13, Block X, Mangahao, was cancelled for nonpayment of instalments. The ranger was instructed to report on the desirableness of keeping the timber on Section 84a, Block XII., Mangahao. A. Edie wrote stating that be had leased Section 51, Block VII,, Mangahao, and asking if be had any legal claim to the section. It was decided to ask for an explanation. It was decided to throw open for application for cash, at 25a per acre, the sections in the Wanganui Endowment Block unsold at last sale.

The Rangitikei County Council applied for a certificate for » proposal to borrow £3OO in regard totbo Te Kiekic special rating district. The Board agreed to this on condition that £240 was spent on the Te Kiekie road and £6O on the Waterfall road.

It was resolved to reduce the price of Section 12, Block VL, Mangawbero. J. M. Davies’ application to reside on the section adjoining bis perpetual lease section was granted. It was resolved to inform Mrs J. HloUs, who forwarded a certificate stating her in. ability to reside cu her email run, that there was no option but for her to comply with the conditions of tho Act.

The Under-Secretary for Crown Lands wrote stating that the Hon the Minister for Lands could not alter bis decision as to the conditions of imposts required on village settlement sections on deferred payments. The Board decided to deal with all tho sections effected by ibis resolution after obtaining the Hanger's report.
