SHELLY BAY DISASTER.
CAPTAIN FALCONER CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER. In connection with the Shelly Bay disaster, f-1 JeUiooo, acting on behalf of Mrs Heighten (widow of one of tho victims), yesi-.i-ilny morning laid an information agam-st (Japoia Falconer for manslaughter. Tan text or ihe information is os follows : • » Tae jofi-ir/autiou of Eliza Heighten, taken upon oath this 22nd day of April, 1891, before me, Wilson Littlejohn, Liq., one of Her Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said Colony, who oaith that she hath just cause to auspfot and doth suspect that John Falconer, of Wellington, on the sth day of March, 1891, feloniously did slay and *iU one Walter florrooks Hei-hton against the peace of our Lady the Queen, being an indiotable offence.” The case is set down tor hearing at tho Resident Magistrate a Court on Tuesday next, but as Mr Robinson, K.M., has to go to tho Wairarapa, it is not likely Hiat he will ho abio to take the case, and Mr c. C. Graham, R.M., will probably bear it. Among those subpoenaed lo appear at the hearing is the Hon It. J. Sodden, Minister for Defence, who will be asked to produce the depositions.
