The Greenock Steamship Company has arranged to establish » monthly line of steamers between Glasgow and Australia,
In tho course of an address to his constituents Sir Henry Parkes said that tho Government intended to introduce measures to carry out a freetrade policy to tho fullest extent, and they would also bring in a Bill to provide for an elective Upper House. Ho remarked that the Federal Constitution would bo of a more liberal character than their own.
Perth, April 17.
The first quarter under the administration of the Government shows an extensive increase in all receipts, the surplus being L 105,000. (Received April 20, 1.15 a.m.)
Hobart, April 19.
It is reported that the amalgamation of the Tasmanian Steam Navigation Company with the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand will be followed by the Union of these two companies with the Huddart, Parker and Company’s and Howard Smith and Sons lines of steamers.
