WORK ON THE WEST COAST.

(per press association,) Westport, January 4. There is a promise of abundant work in this district during the current year. Ten. ders are called for the Stsitbs extension and the MoUibinui railway. Harbour dredg. ing will be taken in hand as soon as Hie big dredge arrives from Lyttelton. Ten. dera for the Argyle water race extension will be called at the eud of the present month. The plans for the loading basin (a big job) are in a forward state. It is also rumoured that the Westport Coal Co. and the Westport Wallsend Co. will call for tenders shortly for the construction of inclines on their Graoity Creek and Ngakawau properties respectively. Hall and Co. and J. Mitchell are both running coaches on the Nelson-West Coast line.
