BENCH AND BAR.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, November 6. During the bearing of a case at Palmerston Resident Magistrate’s Court, Mr Stratford, considering a remark made by Mr S. Solomon, a solicitor, to be an insult to the Bench, committed him for contempt, and, as be persisted in trying to address the Bench without having apologised, ordered a con. stable to remove him. Another solicitor asked to be allowed to confer with Mr Solomon, and after doing so the latter made a statement, which Mr Stratford accepted as an apology and discharged the solicitor. The case then proceeded amicably.
