Cosgrove, auctioneer, charged ■with attempting to destroy a stable in Castlereagh street with dynamite, has been sentenced to ten years’ hard labour. The position of Bourke is very critical, as there is a wall of six feet of water all round the town. The embankment recently thrown up sprang a leak to-day, but by smart work it was stopped before any serious damage was done. The railway line was cut awav to save the line and relieve the town and embankments. MrE. M. G. Eddy has consented to allow the Tamworth News four weeks * to make a full apology to him for the - libel contained in an article throwing discredit on his management of the ~ 'tail ways, (Received April 18, 1.35a.m.) Sydney, April 17. of 4ft, and business is entirely suspended. Several brick buildings are collapsing owing to the foundations giving way.
