LYTTELTON REGATTA.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
The fortieth annual regatta at Lyttelton had to be postponed owing to the inclement weather. Only the first and second-class yacht races were got off, and a couple of rowing events. The Pastime won the first-class yacht race, with Little Wonder second. These were the only boats which competed, as the strong southwest wind and heavy sea proved too much for the others. The Neva and Crest were the only two which finished in the race for second-class yachts The Neva got home first. In the rowing races Kaiapoi won the Senior Pairs, with Lyttelton second, and in the Maiden Sculls Lyttelton won with Kaiapoi second. It is to be regretted that the weather turned out unfavourable, for the Committee had, arranged for what looked like one of the most successful regattas ever held. The balance of the races will be concluded at an early date, probably Saturday.
