(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, November 23 The annual carnival of the Auckland Amateur Athletic Club was held to-day at the Domain Cricket Ground, when about 2500 persons were present. The races, comprising foot and bicycle events were excellently well contested. The Club Championship, one mile, was won by J. W. Wiuks, Herrold second, and Jeffreys third. Time, 4min 44 1-sth sec, Two-mile Bicycle Club Championship—A. Clarke, 1 ; Howard, 2 ; Buchanan, 3. The other principal events resulted as follows;—Quarter-rnile Handicap —Clarkson, 10yds, 1 ; One Milo Bicycle Handicap—Taylor, 40yds, 1 j Half-mile Handicap—T. W. Taylor, 1 ; Lrdies' Brace, let —Laird, 1 ; Steeplechase—A. Clark, 1. The liabilities in the joint estate of Tonka and Co., auctioneers, bankrupts, amount to £12,802, whilst the assets, are estimated at £7898. In the separate estate of R. C. Carr, one of the members of the firm, the liabilities unsecured are £54 Is and secured £1431 10s. The securities are estimated to realise £ISOO. The other member is D. B. Tonka, the position of whose estate has not yet been stated.

- Dunedin, November 24. At a meeting of the D.J.C. last evening, the rules of racing agreed to at the Wellington Conference were unanimously adopted. At a meeting of the Dunedin pressmen, it was decided to take steps to extend a cordial welcome to the visiting press representatives. The number of entries of the Otago A. and P, Association’s show received up to the present is 1173- There is ah increase in nearly every class except implements and carriages, and large additions are expected here. Large crowds visited H.M.S. Lizard at the wharf to-day. The Maracoa was expected about 4 o’clock, but the foggy weather and rain which came on would probably delay her. Christchurch, November 24. A deputation from the Tailors’ Union met the Directors of the Kaiapoi Factory yesterday morhing w.ith reference to the “logs,” certain items of which were not agreed to by the Union. After a long discussion, everything was satisfactorily arranged. The employes return to work to-morrow morning. Greymouth, November 24. . A very large number of townspeople, men and women, left town this morning to meet Mr Dillon, M.P., at Npahere and escort him to town. Every available' horse was taken for the occasion. The party expected to arrive here between 5 and 6 o’clock. Efforts were made to get the railway department to allow a special Sunday train for the occasion, but all the applications met a refusal. The Midland Railway Company made arrangements for the occasion in case the Commissioners allowed a special train. The weather is very tine.
