WAIPAWA EXHIBITION.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Waipawa. December 6.

The exhibition was opened yesterday in a brilliant manner. Four bands were present, the friendly societies, and 1000 school children. The opening ceremony was performed by Mr T. Tanner, M.H.R., and there were on the dais with him Captain Russell, J. D. Ormond, W. O. Smith, M.H.R.’s, and the Mayors of Napier and Hastings, beside the chairmen of the local bodies. Over three thousand persons paid for admission. The Exhibition is a most creditable show, though all the exhibits are not yet in their places. There is a fine collection of oil and water colours, and an immense number of curios, manufactures, models, furniture, &c. Last night the building and enclosures were brilliantly lighted with the electric light. White and Co., of Dunedin, are .the electricians. The light is a. grand success, calling forth the highest encomiums.
