A meeting of the stewards of i the Pelorus Jockey Club was held at Dorreen’s Post Office ..Hotel, on "Wednesday evening, 31st ult. Present Messrs Brownlee, Lenz, Soott, and Reynolds (in the chair). The Secretary submitted the balance-sheet for the past year, showing— Receipts, L 137 11a 6d ; liabilities, L 147 19s 6d, leaving a debit balance of LlO Bs. It is hoped that a further sum of L 4 lOa will yet be received from outstanding subscriptions. It was resolved that.; the general meeting of the Club be held at Reader’s Masonic Hotel, on Saturday, November 10. at 8 p.m., when the election of officers will take place. Mr Tom Scott, who has ably filled the office of secretary, announced that owing to the pressure of business he would have .to retire from the post. ’ Jones- and party of five made last week over LlO a week ; previous week, L2O.
