Education. Education Board, Wellington, 31st Ootober, 1888. THE Examination for the twenty-seven Scholarships offered by the Welling, ton Education Board will be held simultaneously at the Greytown School and in the Terrace School,.on WEDNESDAY, the 2Sth November, at 10 a.m. The Scholarships are tenable for two years, from Ist January, 1889, open to all children under 15-years of.age at the date of examination, attending any school established or constituted under the provisions of the Education Act, 1877, and subject to the control and management of the Board. The Scholarships will be distributed as follows:—18 Scholarships, of the annual value of £ls, open to any children attending schools within the City of Wellington and Borough of Melrose ; 5 Scholarships, of the annual value of £3O, open to any children attending schools within_ the Wairarapa District ; .aad 4 Scholarships, of the annual value of £3O, open to any children attending schools .within the Wellington Country Districts. These Scholarships are given subject to diligence and good conduct on the part, of the scholars. The successful competitor for any such Scholarship- shall receive the amount of his or her Scholarship only so long as he or she shall continue his or her education at any school or educational institution approved of by the Board, at which the higher branches of education are tanght. • The subjects of examination are those prescribed for Standard VI., but no Scholarships will be awarded unless one-half of the possible number of marks in each sub ject are obtained. The names, ages, and addresses of all intending competitors must be forwarded to the Secretary not later than the 19th instant.
