MELBOURNE EXHIBITION.
The third meeting of the New Zealand Commissioners was held in the Lecture Hall of the Colonial Museum on Friday afternoon, when the members present were as follows, viz., Sir James Hector, Vice-President, in the chair, Messrs Brown (Mayor), Cable, Levin, Seed, Tolhurst, and Toxward. The Vice-President, who had only lately returned from Nelson, gave a full account of some work he had done on the business of the Commission there, when attending a meeting at the Council Chambers in order to form a local committee fur the Nelson district. The Nelson people took the matter up warmly, and the following committee were appointed, with power to add to their number :—The Mayor, Messrs Cook, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, t-clanders, Bayfield, Kirkpatrick, Levestam, Kerr, Hursthouse, Marsdeo, Sare, F. Hamilton P. Cooke, and Fell. The applications for space in the Exhibition already to hand are as follow:—Auckland—W. Norrie, J. B. Blackie, A. Bock, C. Smith, S, Donneford and Co. Wellington— Messrs E. Kate, Sperry, J. Kitchen and Sons Apollo and Co., G. H. Linley, Hayes and Jenkins, H. D Turner, H. E. Liardet, The Gear Meat Company, R. M, Simpson. Masterton—Donald Donald. Nelson—John Gully. Invercargill—R. Cleave, Carswell, White and Co. Timaru —A, Maxwell. Hlenheim—The Boga Preserving Company, G-. S. Stenhouse. New Plymouth—John A-mmunson. Hawkea Bay-John Cowper. Gisborne George Stevenson. Otago— S. M. Robbins, Kincaid, McQueen and Co., W. M. White. R. G. Dixon, M. Sullivan, Mosgiel Wool en Company, J. S. Reid, J. D. Monltray, Westport Coal Com pauy, J. Cobb; making a total of upward of 0000 ft of space applied fm. , Applications "Civ made in three instances for exhibits which would require motive power, and the H cretary was iustruo ed to wiite to the Melbourne Commission to make arrangements for the same. It was decided to grant tmal! sums for the use of the various Local Committees, when formed, to be used only for the purpose of providing for clerical work aud advertising ; and the great anxiety of the Commissioners is to have the chief products and manufactures of the Colony fully represented. The Commissioners adjourned till Friday next.
