SCARLET FEVER IN AUCKLAND.

A MEDICAL PROTEST.

(united press association.) Auckland, February 15. The following letter has been written by Dr Stockwell to the Chairman of the Board of Health, Auckland “I have this morning been called to visit at Mr Clarke's house in Carlton-road, and find two cases of scarlet fever aud two other cases threatening to become so. Three of these arrived here on Tuesday last week by steamer from the Sontb, having been transferred front one of the direct mail steamers. lam informed that Cases (two at least) of scarlet fever bad occurred On board that direct mail steamer within a fortnight of the passengers being f emitted to within three days, would respectfully point out that much danger [to the inhabitants must result from such a course being pursued by the medical gentlemen of the vessel and of the port.
