The cutter Active, having discharged her cargo of timber, will sail for Havelock to*day. The steamers Stormbird and Jane Douglas, that wero postponed till last night, got away at T o’clock, the former for Wanganui and the latter for Foxton.
The 83 Huia arrived alongside the Queen’s Wharf last night at 8 o'clock from Wanganui. She left port at 10 pm on Wednesday, and arrived as stated. She had to contend with strong SE gala and heavy seas throughout the passage. The Huia will return to Wanganui at 9 o’clock to-night. Early this morning a large square-rigged vessel) supposed to be the Oamaru, passed the signal station, and anchored in the harbor. a The Grafton, Waihi, and Mohaka, sailed last night, the former for Westport and Hokitika, and the two latter for Blenheim. The ss Wakatu arrived in port from Kaikoura last night. She returns to-day. Hie ss Tui arrived alongside the breastwork at 11.30 last night from Foxton. She left that port at 9 in the morning. Experienced very rough weather on the trip down. The Tui will return to Foxton to-day. The U.B.S. Go’s ss Koranui arrived at 4 am on Thursday, from Southern ports. She left Dunedin on the 2nd, called at Oamaru and Timaru; left Lyttelton on the stb, arriving as stated. She experienced strong SE winds. The Koranui left again for West Coast ports on Thursday afternoon at 4. The ss Go-Ahead left Oamaru on Wednesday, and arrived here early on Thursday morning. She left again at 5 o’clock for Napier. The ketch Clematis arrived in port from Lyttelton on Wednesday night. She brings a cargo of produce. The Government steamer Hinemoa left for Hanukau on Thursday at 1 pm. The IT.S.S. Go’s as Moa took her departure for Westport at noon on Thursday. The ss Waverley made another start for Patea on Thursday at 2 pm. The ss Kiwi arrived alongside at 10 o’clock on Thursday morning from Napier and East Coast ports. She left Napier at 5 pm on Monday, calling at Castle Point, Cape Turnagain, and Fiat Point, but did not stop at the latter place owing to the heavy sea running. The Kiwi will return to-day at 5 pm. The U.S.S. Co,*s ss Grafton arrived in port from Westport at 1 pm on Thursday, having left Westport at 11.20 am on Wednesday. She experienced very heavy weather throughout the passage, there being a very high sea running in the Strait.
