YACHTING.
The fourth and lastevent for tbe Evening Post trophy was sailed on Saturday afternoon. The Xarifa, Isca, and Thetis were entered, but tbe latter did not put in an appearance, and the starters therefore were the Isca (scratch) and Xarifa (lOmin). The boats got away at 2.45 with a moderate southerly breeze, a good deal of comment being made by the spectators on tbe wharf at the dilatorinesa of tbe crews in making sail. Tbe Isca was first round the buoy at Ngahauranga, bnfi shortly after she hauled her wind her weather topmast stay carried away, which caused a delay of some minutes before they got the stay again rigged and the sail reset. The Xarifa overhauled the Isca on the beat to windward, and succeeded in again beating her, which makes the two yachts ties for the trophy. The times of arrival were—Xarifa, shr lOmin 26£ s ec ; Isca, shr Ifiaria 15£seo, or a difference of smtn 50sec; It now remains for the two yachts to ran off tbe tie, and the Handicap Committee will have to decide whether they will handicap them or let them both-sail from scratch.
