The Union Steamship Company's steamer Hawea left Port Chalmers on the 31st ult., and reached Lyttelton at 9 next morning ; mailed again at 9.15 pm same day, and arrived here at 1.30 pm yesterday. She sails North today. The Union Steamship Company's steamer Rotorua arrived here at an early hour yesterday. She left Nelson at noon on the Ist, called at Picton, leaving the latter port at 9.50 jf>m same day, and arrived here as above. She sailed South last evening. The as Huia arrived here early yesterday from Wanganui, which port she left jat 1 pm the previous day. She returned last night. The fore-and-aft schooner Colonist left Kaipara on Sunday last, and arrived here yesterday morning. ARRIVAL OF THE SHIP HANNIBAL FROM LONDON. The ship Hannibal, 1240 tons, Captain Skrimshire, arrived off the heads from London, yesterday, but owing to the strong NW wind blowing, was unable to beat into port. The steamer Hawea passed her yesterday, and would have towed her in, but a satisfactory arrangement could not be arrived at between the two captains, At 6 last evening the ship was about ten miles off the Heads, and had not taken a pilot on board. If the weather is favorable she will no doubt beat in to-day. Messrs W. and G. Turnbull and Co. are her agents. WEATHER EXCHANGE.
