A severe sentence, which should act as a deterrent, was passed by the Chief Justice in i a case cf arson heard at Brisbane on July 22, when John Eookley was sentenced to penal servitude for 20 years for having set fire to a | house, his property, with intent to defraud the National ami Colonial Insurance Companies of New Zealand.
