The Black Diamond Line steamer Malta! left Westport at 5.30 pm on Friday, and arrived hers at 7.30 pm yesterday. She returns to-day. The Black Diamond Line steamer Grafton arrived here from the South at 0.45 pm yesterday, hiving left Lyttelton on Saturday evening. She sails to-morrow for Nelson and West Coast ports. The ss Mawhera will be taken upon the Patent Slip to-day, and the ship Halcione will be brought alongside the wharf. The Onion Steamship Company’s steamer Arawata left Levuka at 6 am, and Suva at 5 pm, on the 15th instant, reached Auckland at 6 am on Wednesday last, sailed again at € am on Thursday, and arrived here at 7.15 am on Saturday. After discharging a large quantity of bananas, &c., she sailed for Port Chalmers in the afternoon.

The Union Steamship Company’s steamer Tekapo sailed fur Fort Chalmers at noon yesterday. • The ss Huia arrived here from 'Wanganui at 5 am on Saturday, and returned the same evening. The _ps Manaia is advertised to run on an excursion round the harbor to-day. The Union Steamship Company’s steamer Taupo arrived here from Greymouth with 700 tons of coal at 10 pm on Saturday, having left there at 4pm on Friday. She returns to-day. The steamers Stormbird from Wanganui, and Jane Douglas and Tui from Foxton, arrived here early yesterday morning. The Stormbird returns to-day, and the Foxton steamers to-morrow.

The Government steamer Stella left for the Brothers Lighthouse at 6 am on Saturday, and returned at 3 pm the same day. The barque Kentish Lass, with timber, from Hokianga, was signalled on Saturday afternoon, but did not get into port until yesterday morning, owing to head winds. The Shaw, Savil), and Albion Company’s steamship Arawa sailed for Napier at 0.30 pm yesterday. She took in [the following cargo at this port46oo carcases of mutton, 1100 pieces oi beef, a number of legs and shoulders of mutton, 41 casks hides, 80 bales basils, besides 300 tons cargo, mostly kauri gum (originally sent down from Auckland for shipment by the Coptic). The Arawa proceeds to Lyttelton from Napier, and leaves the latter port for X.ondon on June 6. The Union Steamship Company's steamer Penguin left Nelson wharf at 3.5 pm on Saturday, and arrived here at 11.9 pm, having experienced fresh NW winds throughout. She sailed South at 11.15 am yesterday. The Union Steamship Company’s steamer Hawea left Nelson at 4.35 pin on Saturday, and arrived here at 1:15 am yesterday. She was to sail for Onehunga and Taranaki early this morning with the outward Sau Francisco mail, and the northern portion of the R.M.S. 'J m igariro’a mail, which was brought up by the ss Rotorua from Lyttelton. The Union Steamship Company’s steamer Hauroto arrived here from the South at 1 30 pm yesterday, having left Lyttelton at 10.30 n on Friday. The Union Steamship Company’s steamer Wairarapa arrived alongside tne wharf yesterday at 10.30 am. She left the- Company’s wharf, Sydney, at 3 pm, and cleared the Heads at 3.30 pm on the loth, experienced light northerly winds and fine weather on the run across, and passed the Three Kings at 4 am on the 19th, arriving in Auckland same day at 11 pm ; sailed again at 1 pm on Thursday, calling at Gisborne on Friday, and at Napier on Saturday, leaving the latter port at 4 30 pm, and arriving as above. She experienced strong northerly winds down the coast. She sails today for Hobart and Melbourne, via the South. ARRIVAL OF THE R.M.S. TONGARIRO. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Port Chalmers, May 23. The R.M.S. Tongariro, Captain Bone, a'rrived from London via Teneriffe and Capetown at 3.30 pm to-day. She brings 171 passengers, 240 sacks of mails, 2030 tons of cargo. The Wellington cargo consists of 660 tons, and that for Lyttelton 600 tons. The passengers have enjoyed excellent health, and every effort has been made to amuse and entertain them. Passengers for Wellington : Saloon—Miss Greenwood, Mr Hardy, Mrs Kemp and child, Mr S. Tancred, Mr J. Hughes. Second saloon—Mrs Forest and infant, Mr and Mrs Brice, and 12 in steerage. The time occupied by the passage was 41 days 17 hours. The Tongariro leaves Wellington for London direct on June 7.
