In the Assembly, Mr Mclhvr.dth found fault with Commodore Kridtme’a proclamation in New Guinea. The real reason bad bet-u ignored : it w.*s nob as * stated, for the protection of the u ilives, but entirely for the protection of these cA mi* s.

Sir W. Mitchell had a very largo funeral. On the proposal *>f the New Guinea vote, the Government will urge to keep on agitating for the annexation of the whole of New Guinea and the Pacific Islands.
The Governor, accompanied by the Duke of Manchester, visited Castlemaiue.
All the bootmakers belonging to the Union are now locked out.
