CANTERBURY LAW EXAMINATIONS.
(united press association.) Christchurch, October 23. Of several banisters and solicitors admitted elsewhere, who were examined by Messrs S. Weston ami Allan Holmes, Messrs T. S. Smith, of Dunedin, and A, D, Stone and A, D. Townsend, of Christchurch, have passed. Of thirty-nine New Zealand Jaw students, J. R. Thornton (Dunedin) passed as barrister, and the following were favorably reported on for the position of solicitors :—T. D. Harmon, T. Russell, R. S. Florance, W. Hoban, F. Potts, Christchurch; J. Thompson, Wellington ; J. Mouat, J, Cresswell, C. C, Ward, E. Chrisp, Y. G. Day, Gisborne ; R. W. Kingdon, R. Wynn-Williams, T, H. Steadman, Auckland ; W, Rigby, F. H. Cooke, F. Bourne, F. North, A. James, W. A. Coates, H. A. Stratford, Dunedin. The Canterbury Law Societies 1 gold medal was not awarded. The certificate of merit was awarded to E. Ohrisp, of Gisborne.
