ANOTHER RAILWAY FATALITY.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Christchurch, September 22. Constable George Cartmill, stationed at Malvern, was run over by a a railway truck being shunted at the Sheffield Railway Station on Saturday night. It was very dark, and the constable did not eee the truck until it was close to him, and mistook the direction it was taking. The truck contained three tons of flour. The front wheel passed over his thigh close to the groin. The thigh bone was broken, and eerious internal injuries were inflicted. Cartmill was conveyed by special train to Christchurch, and admitted to the hospital at midnight on Sunday. He died at noon to-day. His death has occasioned deep regret among bis former comrades, by whom he was much liked. Ho had been connected with the police for ten years, and formerly served in the Royal IrLh Constabulary. Ho was 39 years of age, and waa much respected in his district.
