AT an adjourned meeting of the Pro. prietors of the iirma of Hirst and Co. and R, Hannah and Go,, it was considered advisable to inform the numerous local applicants for shares in the new Company that they have found it necessary to postpone the issue | of their prospectus until the 27th instant, on account of the delay in receiving replies to their felicitations for support in the other provinces, now being pressed on their notice personally by Mr 11. THE FINANCIAL STATEMENT. 10 EDITOB OP HEW ZEALAND TIMES. SIR, —la Sir Julius Vogel’s Financial Statement, under heading “ Local Industries and Exhibition,* he says, speaking on this point, the efforts we make to promote the resources of the colony are likely to bear better fruit than those devoted to testing political experiments, and it is of great importance full play be given to the industries of the colony. Now, Sir, I wish to bring under the notice of your numerous readers an industry in its infancy, and which, when the demand is created (the supply being inexhaustible), bids fair to eclipse all its rivals, French, Engli&b, and American, as it possesses qualities none of the above can lay claim to, 1 refer to the NeUon Ochre Works, which are now manufacturing a native terracotta oohre, a combination of hematite and ochre, a very pretty color, and in combination with white lead makes an excellent paint for all purposes ; and being appointed agent for this province, I am prepared to give information and to above to any requiring the same in quantities to suit, from one single pound, at dd, to ten or twenty tons, as per arrangement. Hoping to see this genuine industry well supported hy all, from cottage to mansion, not opjitting railway bridges, &c., which will improve the appearance of the colony at large and benefit the exchequer. Testimonials already received from those who have tried it. I enclose copy of report by John Blackett, Esq.—l am Sir, yours &c., R. MARTIN, Te Aro Paperhanging Warehouse, Manners-street.
