(united press association.! Dunedin, July 10. Tho Railway Department have adopted a new system of deliveringcoantry consignment*, of which merchants aud others make complaints. It has been the custom to store goods in sheds aud charge for it, but, by the new rules, delivery must be taken from the trucks in the yard. It has already happened th*t the first intimation a firm received of goods for them was finding the drays at their doors, Tho new rule will also involve double cartage iu cases where au agent ships produce consigned to him to deal with. Invercargill, July 16. At a meeting of the congregation of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church this evening, the Rev. Mr Gordon, of Temuka, was unanimously proposed as the pastor of the church, and it was resolved to ask the Preabytsry to moderate in a call. Christchurch, July 16. In Banco, Mr Napier applied to Judge Gillies for a writ of prohibition to restrain the district judge from carrying out hU iuteution to grant a new trial in the case of Eggs v. Webster. The writ was refused.
