The French Ministry have introduced into tho Legislature a Bill containing stringent provisions against anti-Repnblio demonstra-
tions,
Dr. Croke, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cashel, who was summoned to Romo for the purpose of holding a conference with the Pope on affairs in Ireland, is returning, his visit having terminated somewhat abruptly. An inquiry has been hold into the circumstances of the collision between the ships British Commerce and the County of Aberdeen, which took place in the English Channel, on 21th April. The finding of the Board was that the occurrence was attributable to the negligence of the master of the County of Aberdeen.
The Malagasy envoys, who were despatched to Germany to arrange tho terms for the Commercial treaty between that country and Madagascar, are on their way home, having satisfactorily accomplished the object of their mission,
Sir Hercules Robinson, late Governor of Cape Colony, has arrived in England.
The House of Lords has refused to permit the British Museum to be opened on Sundays.
