London, March 29, The public have absorbed the greater part of the balance of the Victorian loan. THE ENTHRONEMENT OF THE ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY. The Right Rev. Edward White Benson, D.D., has been enthroned Archbishop of Canterbury and Primate of all England. Dr. Thornton, Bishop ot Ballarat, and the following former bishops of Australia, Right Rev. Edward Wyndham Tuffnell, D.D., Right Rev. Charles Henry Bromley, Right Rev., Charles Perry, assisted at the ceremony, which was a most impressive one. REUTER'S TELEGRAMS. In the House of Commons to-day Sir William Vernon Ilarcourt, the Home Secretary, stated in reply to a question, that inquiries had been made by the police regarding the attack upon Lady Florence Dixie by two men disguised as women, but that the investigation had failed to confirm Lady Dixie’s narrative. FENIANISM. A Fenian, who has arrived at Liverpool from Cork, was detected in the act of landing a box of explosives, and arrested by the police. ASSASSINATION IN HUNGARY. Vienna, March 29. News is to hand from Buda-Pesth stating that Herr G. de Majlath, the President of the Hungarian Court of Cassation, has been strangled at his residence by burglars. MR REDMOND IN QUEENSLAND. Brisbane, March 30. Mr Redmond. M.P. for New Ross, Ireland, who is now in this city, has addressed several well - attended meetings. His speeches have been moderate in tone.
