(Received November 20,1 a.m.) Melbourne, November 18, The cricket match between the Tlnglish team and Eleven of Victoria -was continued to-day, when the home team resumed their first innings, •which closed for 104. The weather was splendid, and there was again a very large concourse of spectators. The following are the scores:—

Phcenix v. Stabs, The Star and Phoenix Clubs met for the ! first time this year on the Basin Reserve last .Saturday, the match attracting a good deal of interest. The game resulted in a draw, the ■Star C.O. scoring 143, and the Phoenix 78 for four wickets. The commencement of the .game was very slow, Creeks and Godden bowling against Mansill and Twist, who, were both batting very well, the first 16 overs being sent down for 25 runs. Twist, however, soon ■commenced, and was eventually magnificently •caught by Mclntyre fora well-played 90. The Fbosaix C.O, went to the wickets about 5.15 p.m., and run-getting commenced very soon, ■and by the time (d. 30) stumps were drawn had put together 78 for four wickets, Aahbolt’a batting being particularly noticeable. The wicket was very fast, and essentially a batsman's one, as the rapid scoring shows. Following is the full score : STAB CO. E. Hayes and Thomas Ballinger came off on Saturday afternoon at Newtown Park, resulting In a victory for Mr Hayes' eleven by one innings and 25 runs. The highest scorers were W. Judd, of Hayes’ eleven, 33, and Levers, of Ballinger’s eleven, 14. A cricket match was played on Saturday between the Thorndon School C.O. and the Karori C.C., resulting in a victory for the former by one run. The bowling of Barnett and Staplee for the School wee very good, and the batting of Roberts for Karori was very wood also. The scores were—-Karori, 37 and SI ; School, 29 and 40, A match was played at the Newtown Park cn Saturday afternoon, between the Ashley C.C. and the Terrace School C.O. The scores were as follow :— Ashley C.C., 35 and 62 ; Terrace School C.O. 47 and 20, the Ashley O.C. thus winning by 80 runs. Blacklock, Watty, and G. McKenzie for the Terrace School,’ and O. Pownall, Toomath, Easton, and C Hpham for the Ashley C.O. all played well.
