MASTERTON.

(FROM OVa OWN CORRESPONDENT. ) September 21. The Masterton School Committee met in the Institute last evening. The only matter of special importance discussed was the providing a greater supply of water. An inquest was held at Ekitahuna yesterday upon the unfortunate young man Hall, who was killed by the falling of a tree at Pahiteau. The verdict returned was accidental death. A match between the Carterton and Masterton Volunteers took place at the former township yesterday, a- d resulted in a victory for Masterton with 27 pox.its. The proposal has the approval of a large number of ratepayers.
