THE SHIPS’ GIG RACE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sib, —Allow mo to correct a slight error which appears iu your report of the regatta published on Saturday morning. From it, it would appear that the Ships’ Gig Race was won by the Western Monarch, whereas it was the Opawa’s boat that took the lead, and finished up about eight lengths ahead of the Western Monarch. I might also mention that the distance was nearer three miles than two, through some mistake.—l am, &c., W. 0. Wollaston, Stroke, Opawa.
