KARORI-MAKARA HIGHWAY BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday. Present — Messrs. Graham (chairman), Bowler, Page and Cook.

Tho minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

The correspondence was read. Mr. Eagles’ tender for carting metal Was accepted. Payment of £2O to Mr. D. P. Davies was authorised for the map of the Ohiro-road. A rate of one shilling in the pound was struck. Messrs. Robinson and Conroy were authorised to take stringent measures is suppressing the nuisance caused by stray horses and cattle on the roads. In was decided to put in a culvert with 9-inch earthenware pipes opposite Cooper’s brick kiln. It was decided to put the Ohiro-road in a proper state of repair. Mr. Fitzherbert, C.E., sent in three different plans of deviation for the Karori-road, each starting from Lessington’s comer—No. 1. coming out by Nicholson’s fence ; No. 2. By Nicholson’s field-gate ; No. 3. By Dryden’s gate. The latter plan was adopted, and Mr. Fitzherbert was instructed to prepare sections, plans and specifications for next meeting. Sundry accounts were ordered to be paid. The meeting then adjourned.
