This sale is held by order of the Government of New Zealand, in pursuance of Section 21 of the Financial Arrangements Act, 1878. Lithographed plans, as well as conditions of sale, are now ready for distribution. The plans contain the fullest particulars —giving the number of sections, with their area in poles and tenths; also, the frontage in feet and tenths. Each section will be pegged and numbered before the day of sale. Block I. contains 4 sections These several blocks of Land have Frontage to Waterloo-quay on the east, Lambton-quay on the west, by Whitmore-street on the north, next to the Government Buildings, and by Waring-Taylor-street on the south, near the Lion Foundry. Terms of Payment are 15 per cent, cash deposit, the balance by bills at 6,9, and 12 months, without interest. Immediate possession will be given after the sale. Ralls to sell by public auction, on account of whom it may concern, at his salerooms, Hunter-street, on Wednesday, January 29, at 12 o’clock noon, without reserve— The wreck of the City of Auckland, 780 tons register, composite built, together with spars, sails, gear, and other appurtenances, as she now lies stranded on the Otaki Beach ; will be sold as follows ; LOT 1. The ship as she stands, with one anchor at the bow, 45 fathoms of cable, spare spar for main yard, fore-yard, steam winch, Normandy’s condensing apparatus complete, cooking range, winch fixed at fore hatch, ship’s bell, 2 binnacles and stands, 4 compasses, rigging on board, 2 devil’s claws, about 20 tons of coals, masts and yards that are standing, 2 anchors and chains laid out; one of them can be seen at low water), the other has a good buoy chain fit to lift it, and a rope to the end of the cable; a lot of boatswain’s stores, including scrapes, marline spikes, &c., &c. LOT 2. Spars, sails, fire engine (complete), a kedge anchor, about 250 fathoms of wire rope, longboat, windsails, and awning. LOT 3. About 100 tons pig-iron, now on board.
