A IIETUHN of tho value of imports and exports at the several ports of New Zealand during tho quarter ended the 30th June last, and for the corresponding period the previous year, are published in yesterday’s Gazette. Tho returns of imports at tho chief ports are as follows:

Total at airports for the quarter ended 30tU Juno, 1378, £1,550,209, and for the corresponding quarter of 1877, £1,773,312. The export returns are as follows ;

Total nt till ports for tho quarter ended 30tli June, 1878, £1,188,412 ; and for tiro correspondin'; quarter of 1877, £1,284,277. There is, therefore, a decrease in the value of imports this quarter, as compared with thd corresponding quarter of 1877 of £223,073, and of exports £77,886. Tho Customs returns for tile

current quarter are nob before us in this Gazette , but from the very large deficiency which-fche above returns show, there will probably bo found.a decrease this quarter, when compared with the revenue of the corresponding period of 1877. -

The traffic returns on the New Zealand railways for the four weeks ended 30th June last are published in a New Zclaud Gazette issued yesterday. The returns of revenue for the above period are as follows i— ‘

The total revenue and expenditure during the financial year 1877-78 to the termination of the four-weekly period ending 30th June last is set down as follows :—Four-weekly revenue, £•12,771 3s. 5d.; total revenue to date, £563,631 10s. lid.; total expenditure to date, £103,382 17s. 10d.; percentage of revenue to expenditure, 71*56.
