THE DRAINAGE SCHEME PROPOSAL.
BESULT OF THE FOLLIKO. Pursuant to announcement, a poll for and against the proposal to drain the city on the plan prepared by Mr. Clirnie was taken yesterday, the booths at the respective wards being as follows :—Market Hall, Cuba-street, for Te Aro Ward ; Tayton and Krskine's office, Courtenayplace, for Cook Ward ; Odd bellows’ Hall, for Hambton Ward ; Mr. Waters’s, near Itoyal Hotel, for Thorndon Ward. As will be seen by the figures annexed, the number of voters was small, namely 777, and the polling gave a majority in favor of the scheme of 299. The following figures show the state of the poll in each ward at the hour of eloping, 6 o’clock :
