WESLEYAN ANNUAL DISTRICT MEETING.
The meeting re-assembled yesterday morning, and the opening devotional exercises were conducted by Mr. Thomas. The balance-sheets of the several connectional funds—educational, annuitant, and contingent—were reviewed, and the meeting recognised as a most convincing and gratifying evidence of the continued liberality of the Wesleyan Church that the funds were in a condition so satisfactory. In re Pastor Neilson, it was resolved that Conference be recommended to accept him on probation, provided that a modified curriculum be adopted in his case, and that Mr. Smalley be requested to prepare the same, and submit it to Conference for approval The conversation respecting evangelical effort was here resumed, and joined in by most of the ministers present. After the Liverpool minutes had been read by Mr. Thomas, the following resolution was passed:—“That the brethren, having, reviewed the work of the past year, express their general satisfaction with the spiritual and financial condition of the several circuits in the district, but regret that the returns do not show a larger increase of members and adherents; and they resolve to address themselves more prayerfully and assiduously to their glorious mission of edifying the Church of God, and helping forward the world’s evangelisation.” The minutes were then signed, and the President closed the meeting with prayer and the benediction.
