Owing to the inclement state of the weather on Saturday, the sailing of the s.s. Matau for Foxton had to be postponed till to-day. „ , , . , The schooner Aurora sailed for Havelock yesterday morning, The Union Co.’s s.s. Hawea arrived at the wharf yesterday at 1.35 p.m. She left Port Chalmers at 5.10 p.m. on the 30th nit., and arrived at Lyttelton, at 10.30 a.m. on the Ist inst.; left at 10.15 a.m , arriving as above. Light variable winds were experienced to Lyttelton: from thence fresh southerly breeze, with thick rainy weather throughout. The Hawea is advertised to leave for the North to-day at noon. : ■ ■ ~r The ITnion Co.’s s.s. Taupo, Henry Worsp, commander, left Onehunga at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the 28th ult., crossed the bar at 3.30 p.m., and arrived off Taranaki at daylight on the 20th; left at 0 a.m. same day, and arrived at Kelson at 11 p.m,: left Kelson at 3 a.m. on the Ist lust., and arrived at Picton at 11.30 a.m. same day ; left again at noon, and arrived here at B p.m. on Saturday. Had fine weather from Auckland to Nelson; from there a gale, with thick rain. All Saturday night men were emplayed in putting on board her a large quantity of wool and tallow, shipped to Southern ports for transhipment to the Homo market by Messrs. Levin and Co. The Taupo took her departure for Southern ports at 3 p.m. yesterday. . , „ , _ The s.s. Matau proceeded round to Evan s Bay on Saturday for the purpose of towing the Tui off the slip to the wharf, but owing to the boisterous state of the weather, the latter was unable to be launched. She ' will come off this morning, and' is advertised to leave for West Coast ports to-day. „ . . . , The s.s. Ladybird, Captain Griffiths, arrived alongside the Queen's wharf at 1.30 pm. yesterday. She left Poverty Bay at Ip.m. on the 30th, and arrived off Napier at 3 a.m. on the Ist instant. Sailed again at 11 a.m. same day, passed Black Head at 5 p.m., Castle Point at 9.30, rounded Cape Paliiser at 10 o’clock yesterday morning, and arrived here as above.
