THE HUTT MEETING.
TO THE EDITOR OP THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES.
Sir, —As, the chairman of the meeting of the electors in the Hutt district, held on Monday evening, has been accused of partiality, I should like to bo allowed to state that I counted the votes ns carefully as It was possible to do, and can endorse the declaration of the chairman as to the result of the voting, though I slightly differ from him ns to the actual numbers. Before the result was announced I mentioned to the gentleman reporting for the Evening Post, who did not dissent from me, that I counted 52 for the amendment and 37 for the resolution, and I have no doubt that that gentleman would, if appealed to, confirm what I have stated. As, however, there was no dissent from the actual numbers as announced by the chairman, the person to judge, T gave his count. As to the energetic protest against this extraordinary ruling, alleged to have been made, there was nothing of the kind. Your Eepobter.
