THE LATE MR. DAVIS.
Sir,—As the local in this morning’s paper referring to the death of the late Mr. Davis is calculated. to give a very wrong impression, I beg you will publish a true statement of the facts of the case. Mr. Davis was unwell from the beginning of the week, and on Wednesday-1 saw him. He was then suffering.from congestion of the right lung. On Friday there were distinct evidences of inflammation in the upper part; and on Saturday the whole lung was iu a state of acute inflammation. I told his friends exactly the condition he was in, adding that I was of opinion die would recover it the left lung remained free. My anxiety about’ him made me visit him again bh Saturday evening, as I was fully alive to the necessity of meeting any symptoms of mischief in the sound iungwithout delay. ’Oh Sunday morning his.’cbhdt-’ tiou was not materially altered from the previous evening. He died suddenly about 2.50 on Sunday afternoon,—no doubt from the formation of a clot within the heart,—a not uncommon cause of sudden death in acute diseases.—l am, &c., . William O. Kemp. ' The Terrace, February 16.
