Mails close at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, as follows: — For Picton, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Manukau, per s.s. Phcebe, on Wednesday, at 3 p.m. For Sandwich Islands, America, the West Iqdies, Europe, &c., via San Francisco, per s.s. Phcebe, on Wednesday, at 3 p.m. Money orders and registered letters at 1 p.m. For Napier, Poverty Bay, and Castle Point, per s.s. Rangatira, this day, at 4 p.m. For Foxton, per s.s. Napier, this day, at 2 p.m. For Nelson, Westport, Greymouth, Hokitika, and Australia per s.s. Albion, on Wednesday, at 4 For Port Chalmers, and Bluff per s.s. Ladybird, this day, at 3 p.m. Edward D. Butts, Chief Postmaster. The steamer Wonga is expected to leave Auckland at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, the 23rd instant. Telegrams for the Australian Colonies or Europe via Java Cable, will be received at the Wellington Telegraph Officg for transmission to Sydney up till 8 a.m, of the*23rd instant.
