PRESBYTERIAN GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

Saturday, December S. The Assembly met in the Provincial Hall, and was duly constituted by the Moderator, the Rev. Mr. McKinney. An application from the Rev. Mr. Ogg and the congregation of St. Andrew’s, Wellington, for incorporation with the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, was laid before the Assembly. The documents relating to the application having been read, The Rev. 0. S. Ogg addressed the Assembly in support of the application, stating that since ho had resided in New Zealand he had desired to unite with the Presbyterian Church. After association with his congregation for a short time he found that they were impressed with the same desire, and all being in accord it was determined to lay the present proposal before the Assembly. Other reasons were advanced in favor of the union; and, in conclusion, Mr. Ogg stated that he would endeavor to cooperate with the Church in furthering its interests. The application was supported by the Rev. Mr. Doull (Moderator of the Presbytery of Wellington), and the Rev. Mr. Paterson (clerk), the latter stating that since the Rev. Mr. Ogg had been attached to St. Andrew’s congregation they had worked harmoniously together. The prospect of their being copresbyters was to him a matter of rejoicing. The Rev. Mr. Bruce moved,—“That the General Assemby having considered the application on the part of the clergyman and congregation of St. Andrew's, Wellington, for incorporation with the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, together with the relative documents, unanimously accede to their request, cordially welcome the Rev. Charles Summer Ogg, and the St. Andrew’s congregation into union with the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, declare them from this time possessed of all the privileges commonly belonging to the Church, and recognise their right and title to administer the properties at present belonging to them according to the trusts set forth in' this act of incorporation.” The motion was agreed to. The Moderator hiving communicated this decision to Mr. Ogg, extended to him the right hand of fellowship and cordially welcomed him as a member of the Assembly. The Rev. Mr. Ogg thanked the Assembly for the kind manner in which they had responded to the application, and having shaken hands with th'p brethren, took his seat as a member of the Assembly.
