PRESBYTERY OF WELLINGTON.

A meetieg of this reverend body was held in the Willis-street church on Thursday. Present—The Kev. Mr. Douall (Moderator), Bevs. Messrs. Paterson (Wellington), Boss (Turakina), Stewart (Mavton), McCallum (Patea), and Lawrie (Wairarapa), ministers, and a number of elders.

The Presbytery having been constituted, Mr. Lawrio handed in his resignation of the Wairarapn congregations,. He stated that the field of labor was altogether too large for his physical strength, and he felt it necessary to retire from it.

The Presbetery, while regroting the necessity which had induced Hr. Bawrie_ to tender his resignation, resolved that it lie on the table for consideration ; that Mr. Ross preach on Sunday first in the' several churches in the Wairarapa, and intimate the fact to the people ; and that a committee of the Presbytery, consisting of Messrs. Paterson, Elmslie, and Stewart, meet on Monday tbe X4th to bear any deputation that maybe appointed from the congregations for their interest in the matter, with power to settle the question. A conversation took place regarding supply for outlying districts within the bounds of the Presbytery, and various arrangements were made. In connection with this matter, the Presbytery resolved to employ Mr. Macgregor, of Masterton, as a preacher, taking him at the same time as a student for the ministry, and appointing him to some station at present without supply. The Presbytery appointed the following elders to the General Assemby, in addition to Mr. Armstrong, from Wanganui, and Mr. Murray, from Marton, namely, Messrs. West, D. Bell, and Bamber, from Wanganui ; and Messrs. Robertson and James Smith, from Wellington.
