Friday, November 27. (Before J. C. Crawford, Esq., E.M.) LUNATIC. Gwellian Hurley, having been pronounced by Drs. Diver and Johnston to be insane, was committed to the Lunatic Asylum for safe custody. BEK USING DUTY. John Smith aud Charles Ford, two seamen belonging to the ship Star of India, were charged by Captain Holloway with refusing to obey lawful commands. On the prisoners promising to behave better in the future, His Worship dismissed them with a caution. BREACH OP CORPORATIONS ACT. Daniel Heard charged William Short, a lad of about twelve years of age, with burning shavings and furze in proximity to his premises, thus endangering his property. The charge was a most trumpery one, the constable who had been sent for by the plaintiif stating that the lad was burning some rags and • shavings in a paint tin in his mother’s yard. There was some furze in the yard, but the fire, till stirred, was only smoldering. His Worship cautioned the lad, and pointed out to him the consequences which might result from carelessly lighting fires in a wooden town. JUVENILE STOWAWAY. Captain Butt, of the steamer Napier, charged Alfred Grove, a lad who stated ho was “going on for eleven,” witli stowing away on board his vessel. The captain stated that the lad had gone on hoard his vessel at Foxton, and. made his presence known during the run to Wellington. The lad answered His Worship’s interrogations in a fearless manner, stating that his stepfather was a bricklayer at Feilding. Ho had stowed away on board the Napier to get to Wellington, and he intended to proceed to Auckland, to bo a sailor boy. His Worship remanded him for a week, the police to communicate with his parents in the meantime. ~ CIVIL. Titanic Steel Company v. T. p. Taylor.— Claim, £lO. Adjourned till December 5. Same v. W.
