GOLD IN CENTRAL AUSTRALIA.

Sir,—l noticed a paragraph in your paper this mtiming-, concerning a supposed goldfield in the centre of Australia. In confirmation of that statement, allow me to state that I remember, about fifteen years ago, a gentleman who was exploring’far north fell in with a tribe of “ Ball-pates,” who, when shown a sovereign, began to pick up pebbles, and pointed far west, os much as to say there was plenty of that metal there. I believe before long the treasures there will be discovered —Yours, &c., E l Dorado.
