PROVINCIAL BLUNDERING.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The present unseemty Haste of the Provincial Executive, in rushing the Reclaimed Land to an immediate sale, in practically one block, appears to be a grave error in judgment, as well as a public misfortune. Down in Dunedin I saw, in my own trade, the result of a hasty sale of goods in one lump, under a bill of sale. The stock, honestly worth £IBOO,, went for £OOO, to the only individual there who could afford to purchase. In all probability the absence of all competition from smaller capitalists will enable a few monied Land Sharks, backed by the Banks, to secure all the land at half its real value. In the interests of the public, it is to be hoped that such a disastrous catastrophe may be averted, and that the agrarian Shylocks may yet bo disappointed in getting their pound of flesh from the heart of Wellington.—l am, &c, Colonist.
