J. Duncan's salo yesterday, when large parcels of various brands were offered there was an evident disinclination on the part o? the trade to invest at even the low figure at which some of the lots were offered. The following prices were realised, the bulk being withdrawn, the bidding not biing considered satisfactory :—2OO. casks Tennent's ale at lis. per dozen ; pints do. 7«. 9d. per dozen; 50 casks Salt's ale, quarts, 10s, Gd.; 50 casks Jeffrey's alo at 10s. Id.; 50 casks do. in stone bottles, lls.,'and pints do, 7s. 3d. ; 30 casks Arrol ale at Bs. per dozen, and 50 casks Blood's stout at Ss. and 9s. 3d. per dozen. A few bales of full sized woolpacks were quitted at 3s. 9d. per pack. , On "Wednesday Mr., George Thomas offered at auction a shipment of English furniture imported by Messrs. TV. M. JJannatyne and Co., which realised a fair advance on cost and charges ; and at his auction sale of the surplus stores, ex Dougbls, moderate prices were obtained. In New Zealand produce keg butter meets'with little attention, and may be quoted at IOJd. for prime cure. Bacon and hams command full rates for Canterbury in cloth, a recent shipment haying been sold at 15d. per lb. for hams, and 12d. to 13d. per lb. for bacon. Cheese is scarce, and wanted at 9}d. to 9jd. per lb Kionr remains at our last week's quotations', with moderate inquiry. Oarnaru mills, in sacks, is worth £l3 12s. M. per ton ; Canterbury do., £13.2». M. per ton. Wo hear lhat Adelaide Hour has been offered at £lO to £lB 10s. por ton. In feeding grain . Oats continue low in stock, and prices are firm at Or,. 3d. to 6s. Id. per bushel for good samples. Maize at former rates. Potatoes have advanced to £0 per ton

At a sale of sugar, ex Ardeer, from Mauritius, finest Snowdrop fetched £34 ios. to £35; brewing crystal, £33 to £34. But little was sold, as the trade can purchase Yarraville and Melbourne sugars at lower figures. Fresh butter, Is. 4d. to Is. 5d.; salt, Is. 4d. ; cheese, 10(1. to Is. ; colonial hams.
