CJRTFFITIf.i'H SILIUA'JT. EXAMFL PAINT.— -We bring before the notice of our readers what is known as Griffiths's Silicate Enamel Paint, manufactured by tliq above company. This paint has made for itself a name which no other enamelling paint lias or is ever likely to obtain. By means of this invention surfaces arc rendered absolutely waterproof, however porous they may bo ; and as a coating to the walls or foundations of dwelling-houses, railway .niches, bridges, tunnels, viaducts, and other structures of brick, plaster, wood, or iron, It has no equal. Not only is it invaluable for erections of every description, it can be used with benefit and advantage for covering the bottoms of vessels, or for any submerged structures. One great item in the expenditure of railway companies is the constant wear and tear of Iron and zinc roofs and ironwork in general, from exposure to the cffcctsof weather and steam. A good deal of this may bo prevented by the use of Griffiths’s Silicate Enamel Paint. On the Metropolitan .Railway, for instance, wo have no hesitation in saying the Company would effect an immense saving by the uso of this paint upon the wood and iron on their lino, which are damaged by steam ; besides, it would give a beautiful appearance to the stations. Some striking experiments have been made with iron plates coated with this enamel paint, which had been immerccd in sea-water for three months, and when brought up wore as fresh and clean as ever, and perfectly free from seaweed.. But wo need not particularise those special features of the material; our wish is to draw the attention of our readers to its adaptability more especially to purposes connected with the building trade.
