Mails close at tho Chief Post Office, Wellington, as follows: For Picton, Nelson, Now Plymouth, and Manukau, per s.s. Taranaki, this day, at 1 p.m. For Picton, Nelson, New Plymouth, Manukau, America, West Indies, and Europe, via San Francisco, per s.s. Ladybird, on Friday, 20th inst, at noon. Money orders and registered letters at 10 a.m. For Wanganui, per p.s. Manawatu, this day, at 1 p.m. For Wanganui, per s.s. Stormbird, on Tuesday, at 2 p.m. For Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and Bluff, per s.s. Wellington, this day, at 7 p.m. Edward D. Butts, Chief Postmaster.
Tho steamer Alhambra Is expected to leave tho Bluff at 11 a.m. this day (Saturday). Telegrams for tho Australian Colonies or Europe, via Java cable, will bo received at tho Telegraph Office, Wellington, for transmission to Melbourno up till 9 a.m. this day (Saturday).
