THE THEATRE.
Last night “ Miriam’s Crime” ■was produced, and was played with considerable success. The management, however, will forgive us, we hope, when we say that these sensational dramas are not of the class which are attractive here. The world is wicked enough, it appears, but to have the worst features of social life reproduced on the stage, is a holding up of a mirror to nature which could very well be dispensed with. There is ho doubt-that Miss Stephenson played admirably ; so did Mr. Burford and Mr. Hydes, but this is not a class of performance we care to criticise. The burlesque of “ Sonnambula” followed. To-night “ Medea” will be played, with “ La Sonnambula” as the afterpiece.
