The Customs duties received at this port for the week ending October 29, were as follows ;

A moderate amount of trade lias been done during the past week, and, everything being considered—inclement weather and the end of the month—importers have not much reason to complain. Prices of imports show no variation on our monthly report, but there is an evident desire to push goods at a low margin of profit, and as stocks are somewhat heavy we can see little prospect of improved rates. Mr. G. Thomas, at auction, on the 28th, sold the balance of ship’s stores ex Cartvale, amounting to about £4OO, at fair rates, and at tho same time placed 15 bales of full sizo woolsacks at 4s. per pack, in one lino. In colonial produce, keg butter continues in little enquiry at la. per lb , with a downward tendedey. Cheese steady at 9d. per lb. Bacon and hams, 9}d. to Is. according to condition and cure. Oats are become low In stock, and as prices have advanced in Canterbury and Otago, are now quoted at Cs. 3d, to 6s. 6d. per bushel. Potatoes still scarce and worth £9 per ton. BY TELEGRAPH. AUCKLAND, Thursday. Messrs. J. and A. McLean report:—Prime beef, £2 to £2 ss. per lOOIbs.; medium and inferior, 30s. to 355.; prime crossbred mutton, sd. to 5&d.; prime merino, 4jd. to sd. Milling samples wheat, 6s. 3d. to ss. Cd.; medium, 4s. 3(1. to 4s. 6d. Malting samples barley, 6s. to os. 3d.; medium, 4s. to 4s. (id. Oats continue very scarce at 6s. 6d. per bushel with few offering. CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. Quotations f.o.b. Lyttelton—'Wheat, ss. to ss. 6d.; oats, ss. 9d. to Cs.; flour, £l2 10s. to £l3 10s.; bran and pollard, £6 55.; sharps, £7; cheese, Sd.; butter. Hid. to 12k1.; grass seed, ss. Cd. Market bare of all kinds of produce, particularly wheat and oats.
